20.07.2006 : build 1.2.2
    Improved:
  • Global searching for POIs, addressess and others in atlas mode, through all the maps indexed. ATL file format has been modified hence it is necessary to reindex the maps.
  • Due to the fact that mobile API doesn't allow drawing dotted or dashed lines more than one pixel width, it was necessary to develop new drawing algorithm especialy for hi-res displays where one pixel dashed lines are hardly visible. Now it is possible to draw different pattern and thickness lines, dotted, dashed, dot dot dash, etc.

  • Translation to German language performed by Joern Weber is ready to download from download section. In the future it is recommended to download the translation file .dll every time a new version of PTGMAP is released as there might be some changes to the language resources structure.

    Added:
  • Multilanguage support, the majority of string resources i.e. menus, garmin types of map objects, messages etc. has been enabled for translation. They can be easily translated to a chosen language by replacing the words in the binary file with aid of special tools (e.g. RLTools) or they can be replaced in the plain text resource file which can be obtained here and send back to info@imocoding.com, then it will be compiled and placed on the web.
  • Translation to Polish language, the resources are located in external .dll file (to be downloaded separately from the download section), in order to change the application interface language it is necessary to copy the file to the application folder and select the right option in Menu->Options->I/O->Interface language
    Improved:
  • Further optimisation for VGA displays, smooth hi-res icons and easier selection of map objects, rescaled navibar
    Fixed:
  • Several small bug fixes.

    Known Issues:
  • It has just been noticed that starting gps communication before loading a map may result in application crash, this issue will be adressed in the next version, it is recommended to start tracking after a map is loaded.

  • Progress indicator which shows a distance to the next nearest and the last waypoint of the route (Menu->Navibar->Distance to Next and Last WPT). A route can be drawn along a road or in the field.
  • Importing OziExplorer waypoints, tracks and routes (.wpt, .plt .rte).
  • Possibility of adjusting the vertical alignment of the position cursor (Menu->Options->Navi).
    Improved:
  • Locking of position cursor on a road or route is more precise.

  • Routes are always drawn on the top of other map objects.

    Added:
  • Support for VGA displays, "double pixeling" has been replaced with hi-resolution native mode. In order to adjust the size of the labels according to individual preferences, an option "Font Size" has beed added (Menu->Options->View).
  • Predefined key action "Create WayPoint at Current Position" (Menu->Options->Keys). Now only one button click is needed to create a waypoint at the current position (GPS must be enabled).
    Changed:
  • In the previous version the visible track which had been instantly showed on the map was meant only for visual notification hence it was not fully compatibile with .gdb format and there were some problems with saving e.g. waypoints and tracks together in one file. In this version it is changed to fully featured track, one can save waypoints tracks and routes in one .gdb file and then open it in e.g. MapSource.

    Added:
  • Functionality of reading calibrated raster maps through OziExplorer *.map format and overlaying vector data on top of them, the supported raster images file formats are bmp, jpg, png, gif. The maximum size of the images that the program is able to load is mostly dependent on the standard WM API load image function. In the ScreenShots section I've added two captures of loaded bitmap (1024x963 4bit) and overlayed 1,7MB garmin img file.

  • Program quits when adding two maps with different zoom levels.

    Changed:
  • The name of the application has finaly been changed to PTGMAP. Consequently it is necessary to enter your unlock code again.
    Added:
  • Support for Ipaq 6515 internal GPS reciever. In case of problems with this type of reciever option Menu->Options->I/O->ForceRead should be checked. By default this option is unchecked.
    Undocumented functionality:
  • Garmin *.tdb files can also be viewed.

08.02.2006 : Remarks

 As you may know there is another program called VGMAP around (used to overlay data on top of Google Maps). I've decided that it would be better to have a unique name for this application which will not interfere with another GIS software, I plan to change the name to PTGMAP what stands for Portable (or Pocket) Tool for viewing,editing and navigation with Garmin format Maps , I will wait a couple of days to see how does it feel with this new name or maybe somebody will suggest another nice name? Feel free to drop me a message with your ideas.

 I will be travelling next week (12.02-19.02) hence there might be a delay in answering emails

  • "Keep Track Visible On Map" option. This feature displays current track while in navigation mode (it may work as if marking your return path). Now it should work correctly but still turning this on will cause an additional memory consumption and in extreme cases will slow down the system. Apart of this feature you may still record the track directly into a disk file.
  • Several minor issues.

  • Toggling selection mode button now unselects marked objects.
