°jark is no longer employed by deviantART. You and everybody else shouldn't worry so much, as I'm certain this will end up being positive for the future of the community and their art, even if it doesn't seem like that right now.

I find it very hard to believe that you honestly believe that what has happened is in fact, "positive for the future of the community and their art." Kindly justify your response with something other than rhetoric.

... and if this is so good then where is the official statement from $spyed and $mccann at?

With new people come new ideas, and I find new ideas to be positive. Different directions and possibly different ideals could be beneficial. This is not to say your ideas and directions were poor or negative; I am only saying that change is inevitable and I think this change can be good.
Do not be so defensive, acting as though I'm negating what you've done for the community and how your involvement has shaped it to be what it is today. I assume you're upset with the current situation as are the whole of the staff, but it happened and we can only look forward. Dwelling can only hold us back.

In regards to the official statement, you know very well I don't know what they're ($spyed and $mccann)planning on saying if anything. I highly doubt $mccann would release any statement, being in charge of IT. The staff has received an internal "official statement," and we've all been talking a lot about this, but whether a public official statement will be released is something I don't know.

An official statement ultimately means nothing because it would be filled with inaccuracies, fallacies and spin.

There are better people to remove in order to have the whole "with new people come new ideas" idea. The whole reason the site is in the shape it is in today is largely due to a certain select few individuals. A founder not working on something they founded is like a child not having a mother and father. While they may eventually grow up they do not grow up with the same love that they would have received from their true, biological, parents.

I don't believe that what you've been working on for the past 5 years is anything like a child. Maybe at the beginning it was, but now it's a running machine. You and I will both agree that there are wrenches here and there, but I don't think they're yet powerful enough to bring down something as large as this site.
You appear to feel that without your involvement this site will surely perish. I disagree. I think it'll be okay, because that's what you built: a living, breathing community that can handle itself and can make it through tough times such as these.

As for the official statement, well, there are always two sides to every story, and only a couple people know what has truthfully occurred. Why expect an official statement when, by your own words, it'd only be filled with fallacies?

I did not work on deviantART for the past 5 years to have what happened to me happen. It is that simple.

°jark, your community taught me to be artistic. I never picked up a single art supply in a serious manner until I joined this brain child of yours and Matteo's, and I am ever so grateful. I cannot say I can add any more to that, but you have our undying support from fellow members, seniors.

Jark, I've never actually directly talked to you, but I just wanted to say, you've done a great job here on dA, and I wanna thank you, it has helped me evolve not only artistically, but as a better person, thanks to, indeed, the community. I just wanna say I wish you luck in all future endeavours.
If you ever start up another place, I'll be there. =)

quick question: Are you going to be posting up your side of the story on your site sometime soon, or what?

You know, despite all the b.s surrounding all this.. just wanted to say thank you. No matter how it all pans out in the end, if it wasn't for your dedication, your community spirit and the occasional alien probe, a great many of us wouldn't be where we are today. I told your mum, the same thing, if it wasn't for DA giving me that artistic spark back, I wouldn't be where I am today, with my own studio, or I wouldn't have met one of my best friends ever in $Moonbeam13, I just wouldn't be the "me" that I am. So thank you. YOUR leadership and inspiration will be missed.

Thanks brutha, this means a lot!

The fact that those on staff now are allowing it to happen is testament to the fact that people are incapable of putting there money where their mouths are.

While the site may continue to stay up you can rest assured that the community aura will change drastically. Certain agenda's are about capitalization rather than community. You, being as close to HQ as you are, should know that.

I imagine that this conversation is being watched by $spyed and $mccann so I better watch myself before :shithappens: yet again.

I think one's comfort with their position depends entirely on what they hold dear and how they handle themselves. The loss of an important founder does not mean we all need be fearful of losing our jobs. Instead I think we should all think about what °jark has done for the community, remember and hold his ideals close to our hearts, and continue to work on improving this site as we have always done.

I am not sure if you're familiar with my role, but basically I direct the creative team members, assigning projects where necessary and helping to shape the look of deviantART. This is not the only thing I do with my time; I work for a lot of clients, sometimes in-house and sometimes from home. I see employees come and go, and in one job I witnessed 5 total employees quit within a 3 month period. But, things kept moving. I love °jark, and as Angelo can attest I was quite troubled and shocked when I was told he was no longer with the company. But, I know things will keep going, and that is what's important.

Besides, you know very well that °jark is not the type of person who won't let his opinions be heard. Whether or not he has a currency symbol next to his name, we'll all be hearing from him quite often.

No, don't be fearful of losing your job...just be aware of everything in your work environment.

I have an impressive work history...having been the office manager and coordinator for test pilots and astronauts at NASA for several years...I know from where I speak...and I retired...before I ended up burning out.

I learned from seeing many employees come and go, that everyone and anyone is a disposable force.

I know that there were conflicts which occurred, but I can't go into too much detail because of possible legal ramifications. It's definitely a great loss to the history of the site in spirit, but in regards to °jark's job around here, it will definitely be handled well.
